Whereas prescription medication (opioids) has no limits to how high the dosage can go (4).
The problem with over the counter medication is people use them too frequently. Many people are taking Tylenol and Advil every day, and this can lead to some severe side effects. You can damage your liver and kidneys with continuous usage (5). Opioids are even more dangerous than your average Motrin. We’re in a nationwide opioid crisis because of the number of deaths per year related to opioid addiction and overdose. Not only can opioids lead to dependence and addiction, but the medication causes drowsiness, hallucinations, dizziness, and nausea (7).
